The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a set of important decisions to improve the law and order situation in the country. The ministry said that regular monitoring is being done to implement these decisions.
This information was given in a notification sent by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday (March 2).
The important decisions taken by the ministry are:
1. Special operations have been started across the country from February 8 to catch identified criminals, terrorists and drug and smugglers.
2. In order to boost the morale of various law enforcement agencies including the police and to efficiently discharge their assigned duties, a workshop on 'Enforcing the Law with Emphasis on Human Rights and the Environment in the Changing Situation of the Country' has been held across the country with the participation of the police, administration, judiciary and public prosecutors.
3. Heads of various police units, deputy police commissioners, brigade heads deployed in the army field and other responsible officers briefed the media about the decisions taken regarding each incident.
4. The number of patrols at checkpoints and crime-prone areas has been increased at important points in the capital. Joint forces consisting of the army, various police units and BGB are conducting intensive operations in target areas.
5. In addition to regular patrols, additional patrols by the navy and coast guard have been deployed on important roads in the capital.
6. Criminals are being arrested by conducting combined operations in robbers, dacoits, juvenile gangs and other crime-prone areas.
7. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to update the list of police stations-based terrorists and take immediate action.
8. Law enforcement agencies have been increased patrols around Dhaka city, especially in Tongi, Basila, Keraniganj, Munshiganj areas.
9. Steps have been taken to purchase motorcycles for DMP police members, BGB, Ansar and Bangladesh Coast Guard members so that they can immediately patrol the alleys and catch criminals.
10. Taking various steps to disseminate true information against lies, rumors and propaganda.
11. Senior officials of the law enforcement agencies, including the Home Adviser, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, Home Secretary, IGP of Police, DMP Commissioner, are inspecting and monitoring police stations, check posts and patrol activities in the early morning and late at night.
12. The Home Adviser has already held meetings with law enforcement officers in all administrative divisions of the country and has provided necessary directions to the law enforcement agencies.
13. With a view to effectively improving the law and order situation in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area, officials at various levels of the Home Ministry have been given regular responsibility to monitor the night activities of various check posts and patrol teams formed by various forces.
14. Case Monitoring Committees have been formed at the district and metropolitan levels to identify the real criminals by scrutinizing the cases. In this way, innocent people are being protected from harassment in cases.
15. The cases of the families of the martyrs of the July Revolution are being monitored regularly and seriously so that the real criminals can be identified and brought to justice.
16. The Ministry of Home Affairs is seriously reviewing every incident related to law and order and taking necessary measures.
