Environment Minister goes to Kenya to attend the UN Environment Conference
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury will leave Dhaka for Kenya on Monday (February 26) afternoon to attend the High Level Segment of the 6th United Nations Environment Conference on behalf of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This was stated in a press release sent by the Ministry of Environment on Monday (February 26).
As the world faces the threat of climate change, loss of nature and biodiversity and (plastic) pollution, the theme of this year's UN Environment Session is 'Effective, Inclusive and Sustainable Cooperative Action to Combat Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss and Pollution'.
Minister Saber Chowdhury will participate in the high level segment of the session. Apart from this, he will provide a country statement of Bangladesh and highlight the country's achievements in locally managed adaptation. Along with the importance of national initiative and ownership in environmental protection, he will highlight the importance of global unity and action.
He is scheduled to return home on March 3 after attending the UN Environment Conference.
