Foreign Minister urges Saudi expatriates to send remittances through legal channels
Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud urged the Bangladeshis living in Saudi Arabia to send remittances to the country in a legal way.
At noon on Wednesday (March 6) at a local hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the minister made this call and said that there are about thirty lakh people in our country in Saudi Arabia. Every expatriate is a representative of the country and the country is known by their behavior. If everyone sends remittances through legitimate channels, it plays a big role in the country's economy.
Mentioning that Bangladesh's relationship with Saudi Arabia is very friendly and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government has made this relationship multi-dimensional, he said that earlier there was only a relationship of manpower export to Saudi Arabia. Now we have made that relationship multidimensional with cooperation in various fields like petroleum, agriculture, environment, infrastructure construction, trade-investment, technology.
In addition to attending the recently concluded 19th OIC Foreign Ministers' Extraordinary Session in Jeddah, Dr. Hasan Mahmud highlighted the meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister and OIC Secretary General.
He said, both of them congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for forming the government for the 4th time in a row, assured full cooperation on the Rohingya issue and working together to end violence in Palestine.
In a very sincere meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that the Saudi Foreign Minister has given priority to the Bangladesh issue.
Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed in KSA Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwari, Consul General appointed in Jeddah Muhammad Nazmul Haque and Ismail Hossain, Waziullah Miah, Mosharraf Hossain Khan, Humayun Kabir, Kazi Abdullah, Kamrul Hasan Jewel, valiant freedom fighter Mainuddin Bhuiyan, Delwar Hossain Sarkar, Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan, Shamim Chowdhury among attended the reception given by the expatriates.
