Two killed in Train-truck collision in Feni
Two people were killed when a sand carrying truck was hit by a Chattogram-bound mail train at Pubali in Fazilpur Muhuriganj area of Feni. The accident took place in Pubali Balumhal area near Muhuri River Bridge on Friday (April 5) morning.
The truck driver Mizan, 32 is one of the victims. He is the son of Abul Howladar of Kawarau village of Ujirpur upazila of Barishal. The other has not yet been identified.
According to police and local sources, a Chattogram-bound mail train collided with a sand-carrying truck in the morning in the area adjacent to East Fazilpur Muhuri Bridge of Sadar Upazila. At that time, the truck fell at least 100 meters in front of the train. Two people were killed on the spot.
However, local complaints the accident occurred due to the negligence of the gateman Saiful. He was not there when the train crossed. Saiful has been absconding since the incident.
Feni Railway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Shah Alam said that a Chattogram-bound freight train collided with a sand-carrying truck in Muhuriganj area. Two people were killed on the spot. One of them has been identified. The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Feni General Hospital mortuary.
Feni Superintendent of Police Md. Zakir Hasan, who visited the scene, said that the sand-carrying truck was hit by the train while crossing the railway crossing. I visited the scene. Further legal action will be taken subject to investigation as to whether there was any negligence in coordination with the Railway Police.
