220 maunds of hilsa were caught in the net of Surya Majhi in Mahipur of Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali.
The fish was caught by the trawler FB Allah Daya-1 at a depth of 40 km east-south from Maudubi area in the Bay of Bengal on Friday (April 5).
When pulling the net in the sea, it can be seen that silver hilsa is stuck in the whole net.
Last Saturday (April 6) Surya Majhi came to fish port Alipur with a trawler to sell fish. Later he started selling fish through auction in Alipur's Khan Fish.
The sale of this fish ends at 11 am on Sunday (April 7). This trawler, which caught the most fish of the year, is owned by Haji Ahmad Shafi Company of Bashkhali. Although from Bashkhali, these trawlers come to Alipur-Mahipur port to sell fish.
Surya Majhi of the trawler who got the fish said, "On that day, many fish were caught when they went out to the sea and threw their nets." We couldn't bring the whole lot because of the extra catch. However, the amount of fish that we are giving to other trawlers is about 5000 piece fish, there will be infinite 50 maund fish. And from what we brought to the shore, due to the ice shortage, about 20 fish were rotten and we sold 150 fish at different prices. I did not get the desired price because the fish was not very fresh. What I got will cost Tk. 35 to Tk. 40 lakhs. We and our company are very happy to get the most fish this year.
Managing Director of Khan Fish, Rahim Khan said, 'This trawler of Bashkhali sells fish in my yard. The trawler had the highest catch this year. Here fish are sold at 10 prices i.e. small, large, medium and different prices are obtained in terms of quality and size. The fish were sold from a minimum of Tk. 5,600 to a maximum of Tk. 35,000. And the fishes are bought by wholesalers of Alipur-Mahipur for 5 maunds and sent to different parts of the country. As Baisakh is ahead, good prices will be available.
Kalapara Upazila Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said, 'The number of fish has increased as a result of proper observance of the ban on fishing in the sea. On the other hand, the jellyfish has reduced and due to favorable weather conditions, the largest number of fish has been caught in this fisherman's net this year.
He also said that fishing in the sea will be prohibited for 65 days from May 20 to July 23. Until then, I hope the fishermen will get such fish.
