There were 65 bandits in the ship; left a letter at the time leaving
65 Somali pirates were last aboard the Bangladeshi-flagged ship MV Abdullah before being freed. After receiving the ransom, these pirates left the ship in 9 boats late at night. Before that, however, their team leader gave a letter written in Somali language to the owner of the ship. Basically the letter is like a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Mehrul Karim, CEO of KSRM Group, the owner of MV Abdullah, said what was written in that letter.
He said, "After being freed, the ship has left for Al Harmia port in the United Arab Emirates. However, it may take at least three days to leave the coast of Somalia. The letter, written in Somali by the leader of the pirates, basically guaranteed that no more pirates would attack the ship until it reached Dubai. Wrote, you can leave safely. Do not be a victim of any further attacks until Dubai.
After understanding the ransom money, the bandits disembarked from the ship at 12:08 p.m. Saturday morning Somalia time (3:08 a.m. Saturday morning Bangladesh time). About 8 hours before this, dollars were thrown into the river in three bags according to their demand by small aircraft. The bandits collected those bags from the water and stayed there in two speed boats beforehand.
After getting the ransom amount, the leader of the bandits spoke to Mehrul Karim, Chief Executive Officer of KSRM Group.
Mehrul Karim said, "He told me all the best." I also said Allah Hafez. And I said that the sooner you get off the ship, the faster the sailors can return. They left the ship late at night. It is believed that the ship chooses late night as the best time to leave to avoid surveillance on land and on the water because at the time of payment of the ransom money, the hostage ship was close to the warship of the European Union Navy. Puntland Police of Somalia also patrolled on the ground.
