Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on 96-year-old senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani at his residence on Sunday (June 9).

High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Mustafizur Rahman said, "In the meeting, both the leaders talked about their personal issues." Apart from this, they exchanged cordiality and reminisced about the past.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive term on Sunday evening.

Top leaders of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal and Bhutan also attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Sheikh Hasina along with her daughter Saima Wazed attended the swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan as the third foreign leader.

The event saw a record attendance of more than 8,000 dignitaries. The leaders will later attend a banquet hosted by President of India Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan the same evening.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, New Delhi is under tight multi-layered security, aimed at ensuring security at Rashtrapati Bhavan and beyond during the ceremony.

Earlier, a special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Bangladesh Prime Minister and her entourage landed at VVIP Airport Palam Air Force Station at 11:51 am (local time) on Saturday after flying for about one and a half hours.

At the Palam airport, the Prime Minister was received by the Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (CPV and OIA) of India Muktesh Pardesi, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India. Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Mustafizur Rahman was also present at the airport.
