Barta24.com journalist received bullet injury in Sylhet
The journalist (Sylhet Correspondent) of Multimedia News portal Barta24.com Mushid Ali received bullet injury while collecting news during a clash between police and students in anti-discrimination student movement.
The incident took place on Friday (02 August) at Sylhet Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
According to local sources, police fired sound grenades, rubber bullets and tear gas shells from behind while going to the main gate of SUST from Surma to the main gate of SUST around 3 pm on Friday as part of the program. Later, the police clashed with the students.
Journalist Mushahid Ali was shot in the head in front of Mount Edora Hospital.
Later his colleagues rescued him and admitted him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The protesting students said that the police fired tear shells, sound grenades and rubber bullets at the students indiscriminately. About a hundred people including several female students were injured. Besides, the police arrested 8 students.
According to the police, the students attacked during the movement by blocking the road. Later tear shells, rubber bullets; sound grenades were fired to control the situation. At this time, 8 people were arrested.
