Parents holding their children's hands join the movement
The central Shaheed Minar area of the capital turned into a crowd for realizing 9-point demands, including justice for the murder of those killed in the violence surrounding the government job quota reform movement going on across the country. Parents also joined the movement holding their children's hands to show solidarity with the movement of the agitators.
Their comment, 'There is no time to sit at home. The government will shoot our children and we will remain silent.'
On Saturday (August 3) afternoon, several fathers and mothers who came to join the Shaheed Minar in solidarity with their sons and daughters said so.
Laiju Begum came to the movement with her son from Dhanmondi in the capital. She said, 'I have brought my son and daughter and two other sisters with me. Your brother will also come after finishing office. Brother, why do we sit at home? Can someone shoot my children for no reason? If I die, I will die with my children.'
Jannat Ara brought her daughter from Paltan area. She said, 'At home, my father-in-law was telling me to take my daughter and visit Shaheed Minar. What to do at home on this country day! To die for! Hearing this, I could not sit. So I left.'
Hundreds of parents from different parts of the city joined the movement along with more such agitators.
The agitators chanting slogans of 'Bhua, Bhua' to the rhythm of various musical instruments including drums and cymbals around the government job quota reform movement going on across the country. The central Shaheed Minar area of the capital turned into a sea of people with 9 points of demand, including justice for the killing of those killed in the violence surrounding the movement.
Meanwhile, the agitators kept dancing and chanting slogans while holding placards with various anti-government texts.
According to the pre-announced program on this day, the agitators started gathering in Shaheed Minar square before 2 o'clock. Agitators marched in groups from different places of the capital and chanted various anti-government slogans including the resignation of the current government and joined the Shaheed Minar.
The entire area including Shaheed Minar became agitated with the slogans of the protesters. Rickshaw drivers were also seen chanting slogans along with the protestors. Students and common people from different places were seen coming to this rally to join the protest march of the agitators.
Earlier on Friday, Abdul Hannan Masud, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced the program in a video message.
At the same time, the protesting students have announced a 'total non-cooperation program' from Sunday.
