A case has been filed against 13 police officers including former DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia for killing Chhatra Dal leader Nuruzzaman Johnny in the name of 'gunfight' in Khilgaon of the capital 9 and a half years ago.
Yakub Ali, father of the deceased, filed the case at Khilgaon police station on Tuesday (September 3). 49 leaders of Awami League and its affiliated organizations including former Member of Parliament Saber Hossain Chowdhury have also been accused. There are 20 other accused that have not been identified.
The accused police officers in the case are - the then commissioner of DMP Asaduzzaman Mia, former deputy commissioner of DB Krishnapad Roy, SI of Khilgaon police station. Alauddin, DB Ramna Zone SI Deepak Kumar Das, DB Ramna Zone Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Hasan Arafat, Zahidul Haque Talukdar, DB Inspector Ohiduzzaman, SM Shahriar Hasan, DB SI Shihab Uddin, Bahauddin Farooqui, Jahangir Hossain, DB Constable Md. Sulaiman and Abu Saeed.
Deceased Johnny was the General Secretary of Khilgaon Thana Chhatra Dal. On January 21, 2015, he was killed in an alleged 'gunfight' in Khilgaon area of the capital. He was arrested earlier by the police.
According to the affidavit, the accused brutally killed Johnny from January 19 to 21, 2015 by torture and shooting him in illegal custody. When his father went to the police station to file a murder case against the accused, he was threatened with a false case and death in the crossfire. Apart from this, the defendants could not file the case due to intimidation of the plaintiff and his family for a long time. So the case was filed late.
