Former Prime Minister's Adviser Salman F Rahman, Law Minister Anisul Haque, ICT State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, former Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun have been arrested in multiple murder cases.

They were brought to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka from the jail on Wednesday (September 18) at 8 am. At that time, the police requested to show the arrest of various people in multiple cases of 13 murder cases of Badda, Lalbagh, Adabar and Khilgaon police stations of the capital.

At the end of the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi's court granted the application to arrest them in various cases.

After the hearing, they were taken back to jail. Police Inspector Asaduzzaman of the court's GR wing confirmed the matter.

An allegation of vandalizing and setting fire to the grave of Moin uddin Khan Badal, former Member of Parliament (MP) of Chattogram-8 (Boalkhali-Chandgaon) Constituency has been raised.

Selina Khan, the wife of the former Member of Parliament, said that the incident took place at the family graveyard in Sarwatali village of Boalkhali upazila on Tuesday (September 17) afternoon. She complained about this to the local police station.

Selina Khan gave the details of the incident on social media Facebook. She wrote, 'Some terrorists came today (Tuesday) afternoon with a car and vandalized and set fire to the grave of Moinuddin Khan Badal's ancestral house. ... People cannot live in peace even in the grave now.'

In the pictures and videos spread on Facebook, it can be seen that the fire is burning on the grave. Signs of vandalism were seen in and around the grave.

Selina Khan said miscreants came with a car and vandalized trees, gates and nameplates above the grave. Then they set fire to the grave. After learning about the matter, they complained to the police station.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) former working president Moinuddin Khan was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time from Awami League-led Grand Alliance from Chattogram-8 Constituency in the 9th JS Elections in 2008. After that, he was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 10th JS in 2014 and in the 11th parliamentary elections in 2018. He died on November 7, 2019. He was buried next to Sarwatali's house.

Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Sarwar said, after hearing the complaint, we went to the spot and found the truth of the incident. The matter is being investigated.

The police have arrested Barrister Selim Altaf George, former Member of Parliament of Kushtia-4 (Kumarkhali-Khoksa) constituency from Lalmatia area of the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police arrested him on Tuesday (September 17) night.

DMP DB Chief Rezaul Karim Mallick confirmed the arrest.

It is learned that there are multiple murder cases against Selim Altaf George in Kushtia and Dhaka. The police will show arrest in one of the murder cases and ask for remand in the court.

Selim Altaf George was elected Member of Parliament for the first time from Kushtia-4 Constituency in the 11th National Parliament Elections in 2018 on the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League. However, he did not get the boat nomination in the last 12th Jatiya Sangsad election.

Selim Altaf is the son of Awami League family. He is the son-in-law of Kumarkhali Upazila Awami League founder president and former member of Parliament Golam Kibria. His uncle Abul Hossain and aunt Sultana Tarun were also MPs. Another uncle, Samsuzzaman Arun of Kumarkhali, was the general secretary of the upazila Awami League and the pourashava mayor.

His father late Altaf Hossain Kiran was a freedom fighter and school teacher. His mother Mumtaz Begum is a retired school teacher.

Dhaka: A donation of Tk. 100 crore from the Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare Fund has been made to the 'July Shaheed Smriti Foundation', formed to support the families of those killed in the anti-discrimination student movement and to rehabilitate and treat the injured.

Adviser on Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Md. Nahid Islam said this information in the chief guest's speech at the unveiling of the name plaque of Shaheed Golam Nafiz Bhavan at Banani Vidyaniketan School and College in the capital on Tuesday (September 17).

Financial assistance to the injured will start within the next week and later financial assistance will be provided as one-time and monthly, he said.

Adviser Md. Nahid said that those seriously injured in the anti-discrimination student movement in July will be sent abroad for better treatment. Besides, those who have lost their sight will be treated by bringing expert doctors from abroad, so that they can regain their sight as much as possible.

When the history of the uprising is written, one must be careful not to interpret it from the perspective of any individual, party or group.
