In New York, during the United Nations General Assembly session, meeting between the Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is confirmed. However, there is no 'opportunity to meet the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, said the Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain.

He said this at a press conference on the visit of the Chief Adviser to the United Nations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday (September 21) at noon

The Foreign Adviser said that the chief adviser of the interim government is going to New York on Monday (September 23) to attend the session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will address the 79th session of the General Assembly on September 27.

He said, like in recent years, a delegation of more than a hundred members from Bangladesh will not visit New York on a chartered plane. Rather, delegations have been formed as limited as possible according to their respective affiliations or responsibilities. I will fly to New York two days earlier on a different flight to attend high-level meetings consistent with my responsibilities. The chief adviser will stay in New York for three days and leave for Bangladesh on September 27 after the visit.

The foreign adviser said, the chief adviser will hold a high-level meeting with the Netherlands, Pakistan, Nepal, the head of the European Commission, the US secretary of state. However, there is no possibility of discussion with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Tauhid Hossain said that Bangladesh will call on the international community to play their role strongly in the Rohingya issue at the UN session.

The foreign adviser also said that Bangladesh's commitment to reform and human rights issues will be expressed.

He also said that tension with India cannot be denied. There will be discussions to overcome those tensions. I will meet Foreign Minister Jaishankar.
