Chinese medical team in Dhaka to treat injured students in the movement

A medical team from China has arrived in Dhaka to provide better treatment to seriously injured students in the anti-discrimination student movement.

On Sunday (September 22), the medical team was welcomed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka by Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen and Additional Director General (Planning and Development) of the Directorate of Health Sheikh Saidul Haque.

According to the Chinese embassy, at the request of the Chief Adviser of the Interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus, China sent an emergency medical team to provide advanced treatment to the injured students.

The plane carrying the medical team landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Kunming around 1:30 PM.

The Central Sub-Committee on Health Affairs of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has made a preliminary list of the names of 1,423 people who were injured in the student uprising. Tarekul Islam, member secretary and coordinator of this subcommittee, said that the number of injured found after a month of scrutiny is 22,000. Permanently crippled or mutilated persons 587, 685 people were seriously injured in the movement. Of these, 92 people lost their eyesight forever.
