In 2017, a case has been filed in connection with the attack on Khaleda Zia's convoy at Ghopal Union area in Chagalnaya of Feni on the way to Cox's Bazar by road. In the case, former protocol officer of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Member of Parliament of Feni-1 constituency Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim has been filed against 451 people as the main accused. 251 people have been named in the case and another 150-200 have been named as unknown accused.

On Friday (October 11) night, Chagalnaya police officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Nazrul Islam confirmed this information.

7 years after the incident, the case was filed by Sultan Mohammad Sikandar Bhutto, the former Finance Secretary of Chagalnaya Upazila BNP. In the case, local public representatives, Awami League and allied organizations have been accused.

According to the statement of the case, on October 28, 2017, Awami League leaders and activists stopped Khaleda Zia's convoy at Muhuriganj on the Dhaka-Chattagram highway on the way to Cox's Bazar to visit the Rohingya camp and distribute relief. There, armed with indigenous weapons, cocktails and shots were fired. Then Awami League leaders tried to kill BNP leaders and activists by vandalizing 20-25 cars. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and many others were injured in this.

It is mentioned in the statement that there is a loss of around Tk. 1 crore 5 lakh. After the convoy left, Awami League activists ransacked the houses of BNP and other organizations and extorted money.

Among the other notable accused in the case are Jalal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury Pappu, a member of the Awami League's Central Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee, Khairul Bashar Majumdar Tapan, the former chairman of the Zilla Parishad, Mejbaul Haider Chowdhury Sohel, the former chairman of Chhagalnaiya Upazila Parishad, Abdul Alim Majumder, the former chairman of the Fulgazi Upazila Parishad. , newly ex-chairman of Fulgazi upazila parishad Harun Majumdar, ex-chairman of Parshuram upazila parishad Kamal Uddin Majumder, ex-mayor of Parshuram municipality Nizam Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury Sajel, ex-mayor of Chhagalnaiya municipality Mohammad Mostafa, ex-councilor of Feni municipality Amir Hossain Bahar, ex-former of Parshuram upazila Jubo League. Convener Yachin Sharif Majumdar, Mirzanagar Union Parishad Chairman Nuruzzaman Bhutto, Buxmahmud Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Gafur Bhuya, Chithlia Union Parishad Chairman Jasim Uddin, Parshuram Upazila Chhatra League President Abdul Ahad Chowdhury and others.

In this regard, Chhagalnaiya police officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Nazrul Islam said that the police have started investigation in the case filed in this incident. Necessary legal action will be taken against those involved.

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Adviser of the Interim Government said that a stadium will be built in the name of Shaheed Asif at Debhata in Satkhira.

He said this at Satkhira Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Friday (October 11) at 9 pm.

Asif Mahmud said that the sports sector has been politicized during the previous government. Sports related people have made some improvements in the field of sports in their respective districts, but there has been no development in the field of sports in the country as a whole. 

The sports adviser also said that renovation and maintenance of the old stadium is more important than building a new stadium.

Deputy Commissioner Mostaq Ahmed chaired the meeting attended by the Superintendent of Police. Monirul Islam along with heads of district offices, media workers, leaders of anti-discrimination student movement and people of various classes and professions were present.

Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, commented that the talk of state reform will not enter the mind in an empty stomach.

He made this comment in a post on social media Facebook at around 11 pm on Friday (11 October).

Hasnat Abdullah wrote on his verified Facebook ID, 'Suppress syndicates and control commodity prices as soon as possible. The talk of reforming the state will not come to mind on an empty stomach.'

Immediately after his post, various people responded and made various comments.

One person named Niaz Samran wrote, 'It is the mind of all people. It is a timely decision.'

Nishita Mitu wrote, 'This is what millions of people are saying in their minds and mouths. At least if the prices of rice, dal, oil, eggs, potatoes are within reach, people will be able to survive by eating two handfuls for two meals.'

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Adviser of the Interim Government said, earlier we have seen that whenever any important public issue came up, the Awami League government diverted our attention by inciting communal riots or communal divisions. In other words, they tried to use religion for political purposes.

He said these things during an exchange of views with the officials of Youth Development Department and District Sports Organization at Satkhira Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Friday (October 11) night.

He said communal harmony is the beauty of Bangladesh. However, there are many quarters who try to destroy communal harmony.

Asif Mahmud said, you have to play the most responsible role to maintain communal harmony in Satkhira. Many wanted to destroy communal harmony. We will not allow that from now on. For this reason, maximum security has been ensured by the government during Durga Puja this year. However, the public has an opportunity to make a contribution in ensuring security. You will also touch there.

He said that politics has influence in the sports field of Bangladesh. We are working on depoliticizing sports so that it does not become politicized like in the past. A person can have a political identity, but not influence the sports field.
