Bandarban tourist spots to be opened next week

The tourist spots of Bandarban Hill District will be opened in the next 7 to 10 days, said Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin.

He said this in the Deputy Commissioner's conference room during an exchange of views with tourism stakeholders on Wednesday (October 30) afternoon.

The Deputy Commissioner said that in the first phase, Lama, Alikadam, Naikshongchhari and Bandarban Sadar in Bandarban will be opened for tourists. And then tourists will be given the opportunity to travel to Ruma, Thanchi and Rowangchhari upazilas.

At this time, he also said that two proposals have been mentioned. Opening the entire Bandarban district to tourists or opening the remaining places for tourists, excluding those that have security risks. We will be with the businessmen in the upcoming tourism season.

At that time, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahidullah Kawsar, Major of the Army Region Md. Shaykh Uz Zaman, prominent businessman Kajal Kanti Das, President of the Press Club Aminul Islam Bachchu, President of the Bandarban Residential Hotel Motel Resort Owners Association Sirajul Islam, General Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin, along with officials from various departments and tourism-related businessmen were present at the meeting. It is worth noting that on October 6, citing unavoidable reasons, the Deputy Commissioner ordered tourists to refrain from traveling to Bandarban from October 8 to October 31. And immediately after this order, tourist travel to Bandarban decreased. And as a result, hotels, motels, and restaurants in 7 upazilas of the district were closed.
