BRU (Rangpur): Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan has said that the mass uprising movement of students and the public in July-August has brought about major changes in a short period of time. The success of this revolution came quickly because the general public took to the streets with faith in the students. Just as state reform is important, so too is standing by the families of those who were martyred or injured in this revolution.

The DU Vice-Chancellor made these remarks as the chief guest at a memorial service held at the Independence Memorial Ground of Begum Rokeya University on Sunday (December 1) afternoon in memory of the martyrs and injured in the July Revolution.

He said that due to the lack of development of the fate of the people, inequality has been created in the society for the last 15 years. Rangpur division is also a victim of this inequality. He warned the students not to fall for the temptation of the conspiracy going on with the country. Dr. Abdullah-al-Mamun urged the interim government to stand by the families of those injured and killed in the July Revolution on a priority basis before undertaking any reform activities.

Speaking as the president at the memorial, Begum Rokeya University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali said that the families of those killed in the July Revolution need to be rehabilitated. An attempt will be made to present their words to the government. A martyrs' memorial corner will be established in BRU on the sacrifices of the martyrs in the July-August movement.
