Dhaka: Another coordinator, Sarjis Alam, stood by Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, who was attacked by angry students while trying to stop the clash between Dhaka University and seven colleges.
Praising his fellow fighter on the road, he said, ‘It needs courage to enter the mob and stop the fight even after knowing that there are many enemies around who will kill if given the opportunity. No one else has dared to do this. Hasnat Abdullah has dared.
The convener of the anti-discrimination student movement wrote these words in a Facebook post on his verified ID on Monday (January 27) afternoon.
Sarjis Alam wrote in his Facebook post, ‘It needs courage to enter the mob and stop the fight even after knowing that there are many enemies around who will kill if given the opportunity. No one else has dared to do this. Hasnat Abdullah has dared. I'm not saying that Hasnat should be taken to task for having the courage, but at least learn to appreciate it. Maybe the result was not expected, but it could have been worse. The most important thing was that the intention was honest.'
'The problem with this boy is that he is hot-headed and always thinks of a greater perspective. But the truth is that because of his hot-headedness, when everyone was running in all directions after the funeral procession in the VC premises in July, with teargas, sound grenades and small arms fire, this boy was the first to go against the flow and walked towards the police with both hands open and say "we are open to be killed"!'
'Just like he did yesterday. This boy stood in the middle of the front row of the Razakar Razakar procession against Hasina in July, when many people kept themselves in the safe zone. This boy was the first and only one to take to the streets against the Ansar League in the Secretariat and later, with united efforts, the Secretariat became much safer.’
‘The fault of this hot-headed, angry boy is that whenever there is an unstable situation anywhere, or a smell of conspiracy is detected, he rushes to find a solution without thinking. Be it on campus, on the highway or anywhere else. The biggest problem of Hasnat is that he cannot play the safe game like those of you who can just sit at home and create a storm on social media. But the bitter truth is that this new Bangladesh is because of this hot-headed, angry young generation.’
‘We understand how many people have different interests and business, and we also know that if something unexpected happens, they will go to hell again. But at the end of the day, Hasnats are committed to protecting the new freedom they have gained in front of our eyes at the cost of blood and thousands of lives. We don’t care what a few hypocrites, opportunists, and scoundrels like you say or behave. Hasina's followers have not said or done anything less than this.'
'If you have minimum common sense, you should understand who is doing it, why. Understanding it is not rocket science.'
We are Hasnat & proud to be a fellow-fighter of Hasnat.
