Over 50 injured in Rangpur road crash
Over 50 passengers have been injured, five of them critically, in a road crash involving two buses on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway near Damdama bridge in Rangpur district, police and eyewitnesses said.
They said the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of Nabil Paribahan and an Apurba Paribhan bus bound for Kurigram collided head-on at Pairabond under Mithapukur upazila around 11:15pm on Sunday (Nov 10).
Mithapukur police station officer-in-charge Zafar Ali Biswas said they have seized the buses but the drivers and their aides fled the scene before police reached there.
Police said two fire service units in Rangpur district town and Mithapukur upazila rushed to the spot hearing the incident and sent the injured to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
