Nur attackers will face action: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said administrative and organizational action will be taken against those involved in the attack on Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Vice-president Nurul Haque Nur.
He expressed the resolve while speaking at a briefing on development activities and contemporary issues at his ministry conference room on Monday (25 Dec).
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister said, ‘‘Everyone has the right to disagree. DUCSU VP has the right to criticize the government… We condemn the attack whatever its reason is.”
“Our leader [Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina] has clearly stated that disciplinary action will be taken against those involved in the incident even if they are party men,” he added.
At least 20 people were injured when activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student front of the ruling Awami League, and Muktijoddha Mancha allegedly carried out an attack on Nur and other quota reform activists at the DUCUS office on the campus on Sunday.
Quader said law enforcement agencies have been asked to take action against those involved in the ‘misdeed’ no matter who they are.
