Representatives of various student organizations in Dhaka University have decided not to observe National Mourning Day on August 15. Apart from this, a decision has been taken regarding the suspension of decision-making regarding student politics along with the consolidation of the student uprising.

On Tuesday (August 13), the Liaison Committee of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement informed that all student organizations have taken this decision in a meeting organized by this committee. Representatives of all other student organizations except Chhatra Samaj (National Party) and Chhatra League (Awami League) were present in this meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the media was informed that the Liaison Committee on behalf of the anti-discrimination student movement organized an exchange meeting at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University in order to consolidate the student uprising. Asif Mahmud and Nahid Islam from the advisory council of the government and representatives of all the student organizations of Bangladesh except the terrorist student organization Chhatra League and Chhatra Samaj participated in it. Coordinator Mahfuz Alam, Member Naseeruddin Patwari and Ariful Islam Adeeb were present on behalf of Liaison Committee.

It was decided in the meeting that in order to counter all the conspiracies of the July-August student uprising and consolidate it, all the student organizations will not hold any separate programs in the campuses for at least one month or more time depending on the situation, but instead, they should unitedly protect the spirit of the mass uprising under the banner of this movement. Fight for and prevent all forms of counter-revolution. No student shall abuse, harass, threaten or tag-blame anyone on campus or elsewhere using the anti-discrimination movement banner. Administrative action will be taken against the accused. No worker or leader of the terrorist Chhatra League will be allowed to stay in the campus. It was also unanimously decided not to observe 15th August as National Mourning Day. The representatives of all the student organizations present agreed with all these decisions in writing.

The dialogue between student organizations on the nature and form of student politics will continue in the interim. As a result, discussions on whether student politics will continue on campus will be suspended until the movement continues. However, the student organizations will not have a role in taking any policy decisions of the anti-discrimination student movement.

The explanation of the opposition to the National Day of Mourning states that since August 15 has been transformed into a political and cultural symbol of Awami fascism and terrorist and militant activities are being plotted again under the leadership of Awami League around this day, August 15 has been designated as a national day to consolidate people's lives and property and to consolidate the uprising. It is not appropriate to observe it as a day of mourning. The leaders declared July-August as the month of mourning, solidarity and resistance of the people of Bangladesh.

All the student organizations that were present and reached consensus in the discussion meeting under the initiative of Liaison Committee are - Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Democratic Chhatra Shakti, Bangladesh Student Federation, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Bangladesh Chhatra Union (Ragib Naeem), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh, Bangladesh Student Federation (Mukti Council), Revolution Student Youth Movement, Pahari Chhatra Parishad (UPDF), Bangladesh Adivasi Chhatra Sangram Parishad, Pahari Student Parishad (JSS), Bangladesh Student Rights Parishad (Noor), Bangladesh Chhatra Paksha, Student Movement (NDM), Revolution Student Solidarity, State Reform Student Movement, Student Rights Parishad (Reza Kibria), Bangladesh Khilafat Chhatra Majlis, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Majlis, Bangladesh Islamic Chhatra Majlis, Democratic Chhatra Dal (LDP), Nagrik Chhatra Oikya, Jagpa Chhatra League, Bangladesh Chhatra Forum (Ganoforum-Montu ), Bhasani Chhatra Parishad, National Chhatra Samaj (Kazi Zafar), Jagpa Chhatra League (Khandkar Lutfar), Chhatra Jamiat Bangladesh, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Samaj, Bangladesh Chhatra Majlis, Bangladesh National Chhatra Samaj, Bangladesh Chhatra Mission, Bangladesh Marma Students Council and Zoom Literature Society.
