Weeklong book fair begins in Faridpur
With the theme ‘Buying the light of life for eight annas’ the weeklong book fair of the current year has begun in Faridpur. The fair was organized by the district administration at local Ambika Maidan.
The book fair was inaugurated on Friday evening (Feb. 14).
The inaugural function chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur Atul Sarkar. It was addressed among others by Additional Superintendent of Police Jamal Pasha, Zilla Parisahd CEO Abdur Rashid, AL district committee Joint Secretary Jharana Hassan, Town Awami League president Nazmul Hassan Khandaker Levi.
Speakers said that the book plays an important role in the formation of human qualitreis. There is no alternative to reading books. It is an asset that builds the bridge of the present with the past. Books provide nutrients to the minds of people. Today, the tendency of people to read books has decreased. Social media Facebook, the Internet have become more addictive. To reduce this trend, everyone should be encouraged to read books,.
Faridpur Press Club has set up one stall in the fair. There are total 31 stalls in the fair. Visitors will get opportunity to buy and view books in the stalls. The fair will continue till next Friday(Feb.21).
