Mirza Fakhrul was shown arrest in 9 cases of arson attacks
Jailed BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was shown arrested in CMM court of Dhaka in 9 cases of arsons. A bail hearing will be held in his presence on January 9.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka fixed the bail hearing on Thursday (December 28).
Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wrote a writ on December 14 seeking directions to dispose of bail applications in 10 separate cases filed in Ramna and Paltan police stations of the capital. Later, in an order on December 18, the High Court directed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka to accept bail applications in 9 separate cases filed in Ramna and Paltan Police Stations of the capital in connection with the BNP's mass rally on October 28 and dispose of them according to law.
The High Court bench consisting of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah gave this order along with the rule on that day.
On October 28, Mirza Fakhrul was arrested from his home in Gulshan by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). After that, when he was produced in the court in the case of vandalism at the residence of the Chief Justice, on October 29, the court rejected his bail application and ordered him to be sent to jail.
