Shakib is the captain of Bangladesh in both Asia Cup and World Cup
After all the speculations, Shakib Al Hasan has finally become the captain of the ODI team of Bangladesh. The world's best all-rounder will lead the Bangladesh team in the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup
In April 2017, Bangladesh entered the era of three captains in three formats with Shakib Al Hasan in charge of T20. After six years, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) returned to the theory of one captain in all three formats to Shakib's hand.
The veteran all-rounder was officially given the ODI captaincy on Friday (August 11). And he is already leading the Test and T20.
After the meeting with BCB on August 3, Tamim Iqbal held a press conference in the garage of Papon's residence. There, this opener announced that he would voluntarily step down from the captaincy. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was in a bit of trouble with Tamim's decision just before the World Cup and Asia Cup. However, the board led by Nazmul Hasan Papon did not take much time to resolve the crisis.
BCB announced the name of the new captain just a week after Tamim stepped down. At this time, there were rumors surrounding several names, but in the end, the board trusted in Shakib's experience.
