India-Pakistan match abandoned due to rain
Cricket lovers were curious about whether India or Pakistan will win today's match. But at the end of the day, rain prevailed in the much-awaited second match of Group 'A' at Pallekele.
Rain was forecast around this match. Before the match, Sri Lanka's Pallekele received a spell of rain. Rain also attacked India's batting in the first innings of the match. Still India managed to finish their innings. However, rain did not allow Pakistan to bat.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in Pallekele and decided to bat earlier today. In the beginning, India lost a little bit of momentum in the face of Pakistan's pace attack. 4 wickets were lost for 66 runs. However, Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) managed to overcome the shock by putting together a partnership of 138 runs for the fifth wicket. India scored a fighting 266 runs before being bowled out in 48.5 over with their bat.
However, due to rain, Pakistan did not come down to bat for the target of 267 runs to become the group champion.
The two teams had to share the points as the result of the match was inconclusive. Pakistan is at the top of the group with three points from two matches. India is two with 1 point from 1 match. Nepal is at the bottom of the group after losing by a big margin to Pakistan in their first match of the Asia Cup.
Next Monday (September 4) Nepal will face India at the same ground.
