Pakistan was eliminated from the T20 World Cup. Today (Friday) India and USA reached the Super Eight from Group A as hosts USA and Ireland shared points in the match. Pakistan exited the tournament without taking the field as they were trailing in the points table.

The match between Ireland and USA was abandoned due to rain. As a result, USA's points from 4 matches stand at 5. They are second in the points table. India are top of the group with 6 points from 3 matches. On the other hand, Pakistan's points are 2 from 3 matches. They still have one match left. Even if it wins the match, there is no chance of overtaking India or USA to finish second ahead of them. If they win the next match they will get 4 points. Because of that, the 2009 champion Pakistan was eliminated from the group stage.

The United States and Ireland match could not start on time due to rain on Friday. The umpire visited the field several times and declared the game abandoned as the field was unsuitable for playing. With their announcement, Pakistan's exit from the tournament was confirmed. And the United States reached the Super Eight with India.

Pakistan lost to USA in the first match of the tournament. Their fortunes did not change in the next match against India. Losing two matches in a row makes their way forward difficult. As a result, though they won against Canada, they were worried. The rain made that apprehension come true.
