BCB president Papon to resign
Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon has not been seen since the fall of the government. Even after ten days, he did not come to the Home of cricket in Mirpur.
It also caused stagnation in BCB. As a result, the demand for his resignation also arose. He eventually agreed to step down as BCB president.
Nazmul Hasan Papon has been holding the post of Bangladesh Cricket Board president for more than a decade. After the fall of the Awami League government, however, the pressure on him increased. Finally he decided to leave the post of BCB president.
On October 17, 2012, he became the BCB president. He has been in that position since then. He has been elected three times; the current term is his fourth in BCB. But he has to stop here. He is leaving the post of BCB president.
Papon has been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government. According to several sources, he is currently in London. His wife is also there with him. Sources said that some influential officials of BCB are also with him.
In his absence, meanwhile, the BCB also seemed to be at a standstill. The World Cup year is underway, and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in Dhaka in two months. While he is missing. The board president of the host country that year of the World Cup, was therefore putting pressure on him. Finally he decided to resign.
His post has been under discussion ever since the interim government came to power. However, according to the rules of the ICC, Bangladesh's membership would have been suspended if his position had been touched. But as he himself decided to resign, there was no longer risk.
