Bangladesh women win series by beating the Irish
Dhaka: The Bangladesh women's team has won the ODI series by winning two consecutive matches. In the second match of the series, they defeated Ireland by 5 wickets on Saturday.
Ireland won the toss and scored 193 runs in batting. When Bangladesh surpassed that score by 5 wickets, there were still 38 balls left in the match.
Opener Farzana Haque played an innings of 50 runs off 89 balls. Sharmin Supta, who was in great form, also got runs in the second match. She scored 43 runs off 63 balls. Captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti's bat scored 40 runs. Jyoti scored this run in just 39 balls. Swarna Akhtar and Fahima Khatun finished the match in the last batting. Swarna Akhtar scored 29 runs not out off 29 balls to give the team a 5-wicket victory.
Bangladesh won the first match of the series by 45 runs. The second match was won by 5 wickets. This margin indicates that the Ireland women's team could not prove themselves as a strong opponent in the two matches.
The third and final ODI of the series will be on December 2.
