Rain – the Tri-nation cup match decider!
Bangladesh and Afghanistan became the joint champions of the Tri-nation T20 series after the final match between the two sides were washed out due to persistent rainfall at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday (Sept.24) evening.
The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled and even the toss was not possible.
The umpires waited for three hours to make the match happen but the rain continued pouring without a sign of stopping. The last time of beginning the match was fixed at 9.40 P.PM. But it was not possible due to worst natural calamities. Rain marred the attractive final making the huge spectators disappointed. The two teams shared the trophy as per the by-laws of the tournament.
It came as shocking to the spectators who turned up in abundance to witness the final. BCB did not keep any reserve day for the final.
In the final Bangladesh qualified as group champion while Afghanistan as the second team to qualify. Bangladesh was defeated by the Afghans in one match in Dhaka phase while the Afghans conceded defeat in both the Chattogram phase- one to Bangladesh and other to Bangladesh.
