Today is Tuesday, November 30, National Income Tax Day. Today is also the last day for the submission of income tax returns of individual taxpayers. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is celebrating the day across the country with the slogan 'Promise of Mujibvarsha, everyone will pay tax'.

Income Tax Day has been celebrated in the country since 2008. Earlier, the day was celebrated on  September 15 every year. However, NBR has been observing Income Tax Day since November 30, 2016. This time the theme of Tax Day is 'Implementation of Mujib Year's Promise by Ensuring Spontaneous Participation of Taxpayers in Paying Taxes'.

On the occasion of this day President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate messages. On National Income Tax Day, it has made arrangements to publish supplements in various national newspapers. Television channels also have special arrangements.

On the occasion of the day, a seminar on 'Role of Income Tax in Implementation of Vision and Building of Future Bangladesh' has been  organized at the Revenue Building Conference Hall at Segunbagicha in the capital this morning. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque will be the chief guest at the event. Seminars will also be organized in other divisional cities highlighting the role of income tax.

Taxpayers, especially businessmen, income tax lawyers, literary, cultural and sports national level celebrities, journalists and other personalities will be present at the discussion.

Every year the National Tax Day was celebrated in a grand manner but this time also due to the Corona pandemic the people gathering program has been postponed. Due to this no procession was organized. Even promotional activities are not being done with stars who have been able to contribute in various fields including culture to encourage tax payment. Like last time, this year also the income tax fair was not organized. Instead of fairs, returns are being collected in a festive atmosphere like fairs in 649 circles of 31 tax regions under NBR across the country. November 30 of each year is the last day for filing income tax returns without penalty.
