Dhaka, (Barta24.com): The size of the revised Annual Development program (ADP) will be reduced like the previous years. However the trend of returning back the budget money is more. In 2018-19 fiscal year an amount of Taka eight thousand crores will be reduced. So the revised ADP will stand at Taka one lakh 65 thousand crores.

In a meeting of National Economic Council to be held at NEC meeting room of Planning Commission on Tuesday (March 19) the revised ADP will get approval with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

This allocation was made mandatory from the Finance Ministry to Planning Commission. Now the Planning Commission will distribute the allocation among the different Ministries. The revised ADP is supposed to get approval of the National Economic Council.

But a Planning Ministry source informed that the government allocation may rise at the pressure of the ministries. The size will be around Taka 4000.00 to Tk. 5000.00 crores.

According to the information of the Finance Ministry the original budget of the current year was Taka one lakh 73 thousand crores. Of it one lakh 13 thousand was supposed to be supplied from the government ex-chequer and the rest 60 thousand crores was expected from the development partners.

In the middle of the fiscal year the ministries said that this total allocation can not be spent. So the money was taken back earlier. Now the revised ADP stands at Taka One lakh 65 thousand crores. Of it the government ex-chequer will supply one lakh 14 thousand crores while the rest 51 thousand crores will be received from the development partners. It means an amount of Taka 9 thousand crores will be reduced from the foreign assistance. In this case Taka one thousand crores will be supplied from the ex-chequer.

The planning Commission sources informed that at the very beginning of fiscal year the Finance Minister gave surprise by allotting big amounts to the ministries. But when the ministries failed to spend the money it is returned. So there is nothing exception this year. The money of the development partners is also returned because they want more transparency and accountability as a result none takes the risk of crash spending.

A number of officials told that the allotment of the Finance Ministry was received. Now the process of distribution will start. At the end of the current month revised ADP will be placed for approval. Road transport, Physical infrastructure and Education sector will get priority this year also.
