`Mercantile Bank-Abdul Jalil Education Scholarship- 2018' awarded at a ceremony organized at FARS Hotel & Resorts in the capital on Wednesday (June 12). Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Chairman of parliamentary standing committee on Social Welfare Ministry was present on the occasion as the chief guest.
Bank’s Chairman A.K.M. Shaheed Reza was the special guest. M. Amanullah, Chairman of Mercantile Bank Foundation, presided over the program and Bank’s Managing Director & CEO Md. Quamrul Islam Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech on the occasion.
The chief guest handed over the cheques and the certificates of the scholarship today to 178 students of Dhaka Division among whom there were 61 autistic and physically challenged students, 50 students from DMP police members children and 67 as general students of JSC, SSC and HSC level. Mercantile Bank will award scholarships to 1129 students from all over the country at a total amount of Tk.1,70,00,000.00 as scholarship this year.
In his speech, the chief guest advised the students to prepare themselves as responsible citizen to serve the nation through proper education and perseverance. He admired Mercantile Bank’s CSR activities.
Barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil (Jon) MP, (Naogaon-5), A. S. M. Feroz Alam, Vice Chairman; Al-Haj Akram Hossain (Humayun), Chairman, Executive Committee; Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah, Chairman, Risk Management Committee; Al-Haj Mosharref Hossain, Director of the Bank and Rejaul Alam, BPS (Bar) additional police commissioner of DMP spoke in the ceremony.
A.K.M. Shaheed Reza, as the special guest, thanked the meritorious students and their parents. He also committed to continue the Bank’s CSR efforts and to increase the funding in this area.
Bank’s Managing Director & CEO Md. Quamrul Islam Chowdhury said that Mercantile Bank Ltd awarded the education scholarship today to 178 students as part of the CSR activities of the Bank. He also stated that 1129 students from all over the country awarding with Tk.1,70,00,000.00 as scholarship this year.
Mati Ul Hasan, AMD, G.W.M. Mortaza, Md. Zakir Hossain & Adil Raihan, DMDs and senior executives of the Bank, students and guardians, journalists from press and electronic media along with other reputed persons were also present in the program.
