When a class X student said ‘I am GPA 5’, answering a question about which GPA grade he got in SSC ( Secondary School Certificate) exam, GPA 5 is considered to be the highest grade in the exam, although English is a compulsory subject he read, this answer makes the level of quality education standard questionable, what actually students are learning at school, the video went viral on electronic news and social media.
That news video also showed the level of knowledge on a very basic topic, which students failed to answer, it’s really humiliating for students, teachers and parents more importantly concerning the future leader of the nations as well as questioning the standard of education. In reality the students alone are not responsible for their poor knowledge.
After all it reminds me of the corruption from school admission, leaking of question papers before exam, false certificate and how exam paper and overall standard of education has been assessed.
Standard of education and system of education as a whole collapse in a span of 10 years time, where lack of attention from higher authority, poor management and don’t care attitude, corruption is responsible for this.
Many schools got more students than the resources they have, teachers getting directly involve in politics and getting political backing for their wrong doings. School committee run by ruling party local leaders, recruitment are going on based on political support of the person. Educational institute are more politicized than ever. On many occasions the unfit teachers get appointed in exchange of money besides political backings.
The corruption started from the top, currently all most all of the university vice chancellors are directly involved with ruling Awami league party. Otherwise they would not be in that position, this chain continues form University – colleges- School and Primary school. Teachers have got only way to save their job and promotion is to show their support and loyalty to the ruling party. Teachers are too busy with their career and monetary benefits, where no one left to see the welfare of the students. If this continues for another 10 years, the whole education system will be destroyed.
