Hasina-Modi virtual meeting on December 17: Big issues will be raised

In the virtual meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 17 will raise all major issues, including the sharing of water of the common rivers, the foreign minister AK Abdul Momen said.

He told reporters on Sunday (December 13).

The Chilahati-Haldibari rail link will be inaugurated along with several other projects at the meeting, he said.

The foreign minister said in the month of our victory at the meeting would come up in a big way as it was also a victory for India. They helped Bangladesh to earn victory. We must acknowledge the contribution of the then Indian Prime Minister.

Dr. Momen said relations between Bangladesh and India have stood the test of time.

The foreign minister said Bangladesh and India are celebrating a golden chapter in their relations. The two countries have set an example by resolving issues such as land boundary agreements and maritime boundaries through dialogue and negotiation.

"We believe the two countries can resolve all issues through dialogue," he said. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown matured leadership in solving the problem.

In response to a question Momen said an independent road would be inaugurated on March 26 next year to mark the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence. The leaders came to Kushtia in a 17 vehicles by road from Kolkata to take the oath of office of the Mujibnagar government. That road is located in the border area of Meherpur in Bangladesh and Nadia in India.

He said the road would be connected from India through Mujibnagar in Meherpur district. This will help increase people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
