Cold wave sweeping over seven districts of three divisions of the country

Mild to moderate cold is sweeping over seven districts Mymenshing, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions of the country. The cold wave may hit few more districts, the meteorological office said.

The districts are Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Jessore, Kushtia, Barisal and Bhola. There is also a mild to moderate cold wave over Srimangal Upazilla.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 am on Saturday (December 19) said that the weather across the country may remain mainly dry. From midnight to morning there may be moderate to heavy fog somewhere in the basin of the country and light to moderate fog in the interior of the country.

Meanwhile, children and adults in Kurigram, Panchagarh, Nilphamari and Thakurgaon districts are in dire straits due to the bone-chilling cold.

In Kurigram, the daily life of day laborers and low income people has been disrupted due to severe cold and frosty weather. Although the sun was seen late through the fog, public life was being disrupted due to lack of warmth due to severe cold. The incidence of cold is not decreasing due to lack of adequate light. Various cold-related diseases are increasing in children and adults due to excessive cold. The number of patients suffering from cold-related diseases is also increasing in the hospital.

Subal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the Rajarhat Agricultural Meteorological Observatory in Kurigram, said today's minimum temperature was recorded at 6.6 degrees Celsius. Such a situation may continue for the next 72 hours. However, the temperature is likely to drop slightly.

The sun has not been seen in Nilphamari since morning. Unable to survive the winter, low-income people have been seen lighting fires to escape from cold.
