Wasim, the superstar of the golden days of Bengali cinema, is no more (Inna Lillahi ... Rajyun). He died at Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital in the capital at 12:30 pm on Saturday (April 17). He was 74 years old.

He was suffering from various complications including kidney disease for a long time. Actor Zayed Khan, general secretary of Shilpi Samiti, confirmed the news of his death.

Wasim came on the silver screen as the first hero in the movie 'Raater Par Din' directed by Mohsin. He became a superstar when the movie was a commercial success. Then in 1976, the movie 'The Rain' directed by SM Shafi brought him wide acquaintance.

He was one of the top heroes in the film from 1973 to 1990. Wasim has acted in about 152 films in his acting life.

Notable movies he has acted in are: The Rain, Daku Mansur, Jighangsa, Ke Asal Ke Nakal, Bahadur, Dost Dushman, Manasi, Dui Rajkumar, Saudagar, Naram Garam, Iman, Raater Par Din, Asami Hajir, Miss Lolita, Raj Dulari, Chandan Dwiper Rajkanya, Lutera, Lal Mem Saheb, Bedin, Jeevan Sathy, Rajanandini, Rajmahal, Bini Sutar Mala, Banjaran.

He has acted in a number of movies with Olivia, Anju Ghosh and Shabana. Olivia was the heroine in the movie The Rain. Then Bahadur, Lutera, Lal Mem Saheb, Bedin acted with Olivia in the movie. Raj Dulali's performance with Shabana in the film captivated the audience. She has acted with Anju Ghosh in many movies including Saudagar, Naram Garam, Abehayat, Chandanadwiper Rajkanya, Padmavati, Rosser Baidani.
