Gold price drops by Tk. 1516 per tola

The Bangladesh Jewelers' Association has decided to reduce the price of gold by Tk. 1,516 per tola in the domestic market as the price of gold is falling in the international market. The price of a good quality or 22 carat gold ornaments will stand at Tk.71967. The new rates will be effective from Sunday (June 20).

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association’s (BAJUS) decision to reduce the price of gold was disclosed in a press release issued at 9:15 pm on Saturday (June 19).

As the new gold price is effective from Sunday, it will cost Tk. 71967 to buy a 22-carat gold ornament. Besides, 21 carat gold will be sold at Tk. 68,818, 18 carat gold at Tk. 60070 and traditional gold ornaments at Tk. 49,747.

To date, 22 carat gold has been sold at Tk. 73,483, 21 carat gold at Tk. 70334, 18 carat gold at Tk. 61586 and traditional ornaments at Tk. 51,263. From tomorrow, 22, 21 and 18 carat and traditional method of gold will be reduced by 1 thousand 516 rupees.

Although the price of gold has been reduced, the price of silver has remained unchanged. The 22 carat silver will be sold at Tk. 1,516 as before. The price of 21 and 18 carat silver is Tk. 1435 and Tk. 1225 respectively. Traditional silver will be sold at Tk. 933.

The Jewelers' Association has said that the price of gold in the world market has come down even in the complex equations of the global economy during the Corona period. Therefore, the price of gold has been reduced to cut the stagnation of the country's market and to think about the general consumer.
