Rohingya leader Muhibullah shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

Muhibullah, a top Rohingya leader, was shot dead by miscreants in Cox's Bazar. Muhibullah was chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights.

Shihab Kaiser Khan, commander of the 7th Armed Police Battalion, who is in charge of security there, confirmed the matter.

The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (September 29) at his office in the East-West No. 1 block in the Ukhia Kutupalong Lombashia Rohingya camp area.

Muhibullah is believed to have played a key role in the Rohingya repatriation process.

Shihab Kaiser Khan said he was shot five times by unidentified gunmen while he was in his office after Esha prayers. Three rounds of bullets hit him in the chest. He was rushed to the MSF hospital in Kutupalanga in critical condition and was pronounced dead by the on-duty doctor. Muhibullah's body has been handed over to Ukhia police station.
