Bangladesh to get 13.60cr vaccines from COVAX

Bangladesh will receive 13.60 crore vaccines from the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global initiative COVAX.

Health Ministry sources said this on Saturday (October 2).

The sources said the global vaccination alliance has increased the number of people in Bangladesh from 20 percent to 40 percent.

As such, Bangladesh will get 13.60 crore vaccines from COVAX instead of 6.8 crore doses.

Bangladesh has so far got 1 crore 36 lakh doses through COVAX. This includes 55 lakh vaccines for Moderna, 40 lakh for Sinopharm, 30 lakh for AstraZenica and 11 lakh for Pfizer.

Gavi, a global alliance to ensure immunization in poor countries, wants to distribute 190 crore vaccines through COVAX by December 31 this year.
