No one should go too far with religion in Bangladesh, which was formed with a non-communal consciousness. In this country, people of all religions will practice their religion freely. That is our goal, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She made the remarks at a discussion organized by Awami League on Tuesday (October 19) on the occasion of the birthday of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She joined Awami League's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital via video conference from the Prime Minister's Ganobhaban.

Sheikh Hasina said people of all religions will practice their religion freely. Our constitution also gives that instruction. In Islam too, the Prophet Karim (peace be upon him) said that do not go too far with religion. So we also want no one to overdo it. Our goal is for all the people of this country to live in peace.

"I want every human life to be beautiful and prosperous," she said. May every man have his food and clothing, a better life, which was the dream of the Father of the Nation. That we can meet.

Describing the trial of the August 15 murder, Sheikh Hasina said, "What is the reason for Khaleda Zia's bias towards the killers?" The reason is very clear because, Ziaur Rahman along with the murderer Mushtaq was completely involved in this murder. This Russell was the last to be killed. It was said that the little child should not live. Who gave this instruction? Who gave? After all, that's the hardest part.

The discussion was also addressed by Presidium members Matia Chowdhury, Mohammad Abdur Razzak, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Joint Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Office Secretary Biplob Barua, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Women Affairs Secretary Meher Afroz Chumki, Central Committee Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League President Abu Ahmed Mannafi and General Secretary of Metropolitan North Awami League SM Mannan Kochi spoke.
