Coronavirus-resistant oral drug 'Malnupiravir' is available in the market. The Directorate of Drug Administration (DGDA) has approved the marketing of these tablets to three pharmaceutical companies.
The companies are Beximco, Square and SKF. However, 10 companies applied for the marketing of the drug.
Confirming the matter, DGDA Director General Major General Mahbubur Rahman said on Tuesday (November 9) that initially the pharmaceutical companies Beximco, Square and SKF have been given approval for the urgent marketing of Covid's oral tablet Malnupiravir. There are 7 more pharmaceutical companies in the country in the list of approval. In the beginning, the selling price of each capsule was fixed at Tk. 70.
He said that according to the doctor's advice, a patient with corona over the age of 18 should take 40 pills to prevent infection.
The drug halves the risk of corona disease and hospitalization, claims US drug maker Mark Sharp & Rizbak Biotherapeutics. He said that it should be used as per the prescription of the doctor.
