Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has said that the judges think 10 times before giving capital punishment to the accused in any case.

The Chief Justice made the remarks at a hearing of a case in the Appellate Division on Wednesday (November 10).

At that time, the Chief Justice said, one of the reasons why all the appeals in the Appellate Division were not heard together as it was not digital. The Appellate Division was also misled that the accused was hanged on that day.

The court also said that it was embarrassing for the Appellate Division to carry out the execution of Jharu and Mokim. The lawyer apologized for not knowing the exact information about the execution.

At one stage of the hearing, the Chief Justice said that such blame has come to this court. It's a huge embarrassment for the court. We give a serious look before each execution. Before hanging, we think at least 10 times.

He added that there were cases of hanging from 2009. Those were disposed of during my tenure. But those cases should have been given priority. No lawyer mentioned this. In these cases, no time should be asked for even for a day. But after coming to the cause list, the lawyers want time.
