Bank recruitment: DB in search of more 15 involved

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has received information that 15 more people were involved in the recruitment test for the posts of officers (cash) of five state-owned banks. The DB said it had received the information during interrogation of six people, including three remanded bank officials.

On Friday (November 12) night Tejgaon zonal team Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC)Shahdat Hossain Soma gave this information.

He said that the arrested accused had informed during interrogation that 15 more persons had helped memorizing the questions and answers of MCQ method in the booth set up on the morning of the recruitment test. Their names and addresses have been found. Now an operation is underway to arrest them. Details about them will be known after the arrest.

Earlier, the question of the recruitment test of five state-owned banks under the Bankers' Selection Committee was recently was leaked. In an investigation, DB police arrested five members of the leaking ring in disguise.

According to the information received from them, the DB said that the cycle has leaked questions in four consecutive recruitment tests of the bank. The three arrested and involved in the scam are officials of various government banks.

A preliminary investigation by the DB has revealed more sensational information. Questions were leaked from the ICT department of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, which was responsible for preparing the question papers and conducting the examinations in collaboration with the government bank officials involved. So far, the gang has snatched Tk. 60 crore from the job seekers by leaking questions and answer sheets.

A special operation was carried out from November 6 to Wednesday (November 10) and five people involved in the scam were arrested.

They are: Mastermind of the scam Moktaruzzaman Royal (27), ICT Technician, Ahsanullah University, Shamsul Haque Shyamal (34), Gulshan Branch Officer, Janata Bank, Jane Alam Milon (30), Senior Officer, Rupali Bank, Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Officer, Pubali Bank.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) Tejgaon Division on Thursday (November 11) arrested three more people, including a senior officer of Janata Bank, for allegedly leaking question papers.

The arrested are Emdadul Haque Khokon, senior officer of Janata Bank, Sohail Rana and AB Zahid, a former student of Dhaka College.
