Appellate Division Judge Justice Obaidul Hasan of the, head of the much talked Search Committee has expressed his desire to start work on the formation of the next Election Commission from Sunday.

He said,  His Excellency the President has given me the responsibility on behalf of the nation and this committee hopefully I will be able to fulfill that responsibility in the light of the constitution and the law.

There is challenge in all works. There will be challenges. We will hopefully be able to face those challenges and choose 10 neutral names and give that to the President on time.
He made the remarks to the media in an immediate response after taking over as head of the search committee on Saturday (February 5).

Justice Obaidul Hasan has said that there is a lot of controversy in the past about the role of the present EC in coming out of it, people are evaluated through his work. We will name 10 people. His Excellency the President will nominate 5 candidates from there. Only when they work will they understand what they are capable of, what they are not. Someone is worthy of someone's vision and someone's vision is unworthy. I do not want to comment on it. We will try to nominate the most impartial and deserving people. I hope so. The president may appoint 5 people there.

`I still can't say,' he said. I had no contact with any of my colleagues. I will talk to the Cabinet Secretary in the afternoon. I will try to talk whether the work can be started from tomorrow or not?
