Seeing illegal trucks and garbage in the parking lot outside the Chattogram railway station, the Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan has ordered the temporary suspension of the two officials.
The Minister took the decision while inspecting the site of the proposed welfare trust at the old railway station around 12 noon on Saturday (February 5).
The two suspended officials are: Railway Eastern Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shams Mohammad Tushar and Station Manager Ratan Kumar Chowdhury.
According to the concerned sources, the Railway Minister went to supervise the ongoing projects and works of Chattogram Railway Station. On his way back, he noticed illegal trucks and rubbish in the parking lot outside the station. Later, in a meeting with the officials, he wanted to know the income and expenditure of the parking lot. Unable to respond satisfactorily, the Minister ordered immediate suspension of them for negligence in their duties.
Regarding the Kalurghat railway bridge, the minister said that work is being done to prepare its design. The bridge will be constructed at a certain height for navigation.
