Police have recovered the body of a Russian national working on the nuclear power plant project under construction at Rooppur in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.
His body was recovered from a room in a multi-storey building of the foreigners' housing project Green City at Rooppur in Natunhat of Iswardi upazila on Sunday (February 6) afternoon. So far five Russian nationals working on the Rooppur project died in eight days.
Ishwardi police officer in charge (OC) Asaduzzaman has confirmed the matter. Most of the dead died of heart disease, the police official said.
According to police sources, the deceased was identified as Verotonikov Alexandra, 45. He used to work in this project in an organization called 'Nikim'. He lived in a room in Green City, the project's residential area. At noon, colleagues saw him lying unconscious in their room and told project officials. After informing the police station, the police went there and recovered his body. Verotnikov's body was sent to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for autopsy.
OC Asaduzzaman further said that five bodies have been recovered in Rooppur in last 8 days. The autopsy report did not find anything. Only one person was found to have drug involvement. Others have reported heart disease.
