The genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by the Pakistani military junta against the Bengali people during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 have been recognized by the international organization Genocide Watch, according to BSS.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It said that along with Genocide Watch, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention also recognized the genocide committed against the Bengali nation during the war of liberation on the eve of Bangladesh's independence.
The organization called on the international community, including the two nations, to recognize the genocide in Bangladesh.
The recognition of genocidal organizations will strengthen the international support for the resolution unanimously adopted by the Bangladesh Parliament on March 11, 2017 to recognize March 25 as the day of genocide.
