‘Missing 8-9 people traced, more likely to be traced’

Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen has said that eight to nine of the 76 people listed in UN as missing from Bangladesh have been found. He said that the possibility of getting several more has also been created.

The foreign secretary made the remarks while talking to reporters at the foreign ministry on Wednesday (February 9).

"We have informed the UN working group about the findings," he said.

He added that the government was working on missing persons and trying to find them. The families of the missing are being contacted.

He made the remarks at a time when the UN Working Group on Enforced Disappearances is holding a five-day meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting started on February 7 and will continue till February 11.

The working group is investigating the disappearances of more than 300 people from 24 countries around the world.
