Bangladesh and EU held bilateral talks

Bilateral discussions on sectoral issues were held between Bangladesh and the European Union.

The discussion meeting was held on Wednesday (May 10) at State Guest House Padma.

A press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the State Minister of Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and Helena Koenig, Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Global Affairs of the European External Action Service (EEAS) led their respective sides.

Bangladesh and the EU expressed satisfaction at celebrating 50 years of their partnership in 2023 and reiterated their commitment to an early Partnership Cooperation Agreement for cooperation in strategic areas. As agreed during the first political dialogue held between Bangladesh and the EU in Dhaka in November last year.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in key sectors such as climate change, energy security, renewable energy, maritime governance, digitalization and cyber security, knowledge-innovation-infrastructure development under the EU's Global Gateway.
