The relevant departments of the government have not yet taken any effective initiative to control dengue. Mosquitoes are not dying in the activities that the City Corporation and the Ministry of Local Government are conducting to kill mosquitoes. These initiatives are very laughter evoking. The joke is going on in the name of mosquito killing. These initiatives have no practical and scientific basis. Policy makers are following an unscientific approach. It cannot control mosquitoes. People are dying.

On Saturday afternoon at CIRDAP Auditorium in the capital, 'Why is this dengue epidemic? The entomologists said these things in this press conference entitled "Get rid in which way?" The press conference was organized by Bangladesh Vector Management Group.

Entomologist Manjur Ahmed Chowdhury has raised questions about the mosquito control process of the Local Government Ministry division amid the dengue outbreak in the country.

In the press conference, the president said, "In the name of killing mosquitoes, the policy makers are following unscientific methods. It cannot control mosquitoes. People are dying. Policy-makers are being misled by unscientific talk. "There is a joke going on in the name of mosquito killing. Attempts are being made to control mosquitoes with frogs, deer and ducks. This is not seen anywhere else in the world. There is also no scientific basis for Aedes mosquitoes laying eggs in sinks and drains. He complained that even the fogger machine is not working to kill mosquitoes.

Associate Professor of Jagannath University Afroza said, due to the increase in dengue outbreak, the people of the city are now fairly aware, but there is no awareness among the rural people. For this reason, I would like to call on the government - at least some activities and plans should be undertaken from next year, if not this year, focusing on Mosquito Day.

Entomologist and National University Zoology Department Faculty Dr. GM Saifur Rahman said, the methods we should adopt to control mosquitoes are not done. There is a lack of insecticides and real knowledge on mosquito control. But the fogging that is done does not kill the mosquitoes. We do not have the insecticides needed for the Aedes mosquito. Emphasizing the importance of research, he said, we must have people who will always research these issues because the mosquito is constantly changing its form.

Dr. Abu Faiz Aslam, Professor of Zoology Department of Jahangirnagar University said, we have given many suggestions to the relevant authorities to kill mosquitoes. But they did not accept it. There are more effective insecticides than BTI. So that mosquitoes die quickly. Today, various complications have arisen with the import of BTI. This situation would not have happened if we had taken our advice. Advice and feedback should be sought especially from those doing research on mosquitoes.

The country is affected by dengue as well as malaria. Malaria is one of the mosquito-borne diseases worldwide. Seven species of Anopheles mosquitoes transmit malaria in Bangladesh.
