The police have arrested 4 members of the juvenile gang led by Mahbubur Rahman Ruhel, son of Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Member of Parliament of Mirsarai, Chattogram.
They were arrested from Sadhur Bazar area of Moghadia Union No. 11 of the upazila on Monday (September 17) noon. They have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a schoolgirl and threatening to kill her parents, police said.
The arrested persons are - No. 11 Moghadiya Union Chhatra League co-editor Sajjad Hossain Sagar, the same union Chhatra League's mass education affairs secretary Shamsuddin Prakash Bullet Salman, Chhatra League workers Emran Hossain Badsha Prakash Shubo and Sajjad Hossain Sagar. All of them are said to be followers of No. 11 Moghadiya Union Chairman Jahangir Hossain Master and local MP son Ruhel. Pictures of Jahangir Hossain Master and Ruhel have been used in their Facebook profile. Images of these two leaders holding various programs are always seen on social media.
At an early age, they began to lead reckless lives in pursuit of political power. They are also involved in yaba and drug trade, motorcycle theft, cow lifting, robbery and robbery in the area. Scenes of them consuming yaba have also gone viral on social media. There are about 10,000 members of this ‘juvenile gang’ across Mirsarai upazila. This huge gang under the leadership of Musharraf's son has made the entire upazila a haven of drug trade and crime from the umbrella of Chhatra League.
A 7th grade schoolgirl of that area stopped going to school for the last 4 months due to sexual harassment and harassment by 8 members of Union Branch No. 11 of Kishore Gang. Based on the complaint of the schoolgirl's father, Mirsarai police arrested them and sent them to jail through the court. They got even angrier on bail and went to the house of the schoolgirl to pressurize her to withdraw the case. Belayet Hossain, the schoolgirl's father, lodged a complaint with the police station again.
Akalima Begum, the mother of the schoolgirl, took her daughter to school on Monday with the help of upazila administration, police station administration and school authorities. On the way back home from there, the youth gang members blocked Akalima Begum's way with sharp weapons and threatened to kill her and kidnap her and gang rape her. At the time, they said that they know that currently, bail is granted in one month in murder cases. So the case should be withdrawn in time.
When the matter came to the attention of the school authorities, they reported to the police station and the police conducted an immediate raid on the spot and arrested 4 juvenile gang members and brought them to the police station. MP’s son Mahbubur Rahman Ruhel and 11th UP Chairman Jahangir Hossain Master sent their two representatives to OC Kabir Hossain to remove the youth gang members from the police station, Ruhel's PS Habib Khan, chairman's personal peon Jabbar Ali and local activists. Meanwhile, Habib Khan told OC Kabir Hossain about Ruhel on his personal mobile phone. But OC Kabir Hossain expressed his inability to release them as the matter became complicated and local newsmen were present. Later, the schoolgirl's father, Belayet Hossain's GD, filed a regular case and sent the corrupt juvenile gang members to court.
When asked about the cultivation of juvenile gangs, No. 11 Moghadiya UP Chairman Jahangir Hossain Master said that many people follow him as a public representative. Those arrested from that direction are his followers. But I do not support any of their misdeeds.
